• In my mind Simple Minds made three stunning albums, New Gold Dream (), Sparkle In The Rain () and this one which came out in , Once Upon A Time. Sure they had their moments on Empires and Dance and earlier albums but I really couldn't care for it much, it was all a bit nouveau kitsch and repetitive proto electronica for me/5().

• Apr 20,  · A fantastic album which enabled Simple Minds to come of age as one of the great bands of the eighties. Whilst the album offers a more popular feel to previous releases, the songs are hard to fault and I am not surprised that the album was probably the biggest commercial success of this great bands career/5(45).

• Once Upon a Time was the 1st Simple Minds album I heard and I was instantly hooked. I know it put off a lot of hardcore fans, but this was a clean slate for me. 2 nights at Milton Keynes and the following City of Light album, Simple Minds became my favourite band and still are/5().
